Things to Do
Abita Springs may be small, but there are plenty of activities to fill your time and more than a few options for adventures.
We’ve also included our St. Tammany Parish favorites if you’re up for a change of scenery.
Walkable.
-
Abita Mystery House
Homemade inventions, found objects, and outsider folk art curated by the eccentric mind of artist John Preble.
-

Local art and history exhibitions, as well as special events and tourist information. Admission is free.

A 31-mile, rails-to-trails conversion connecting nearby towns of Covington, Mandeville, Lacombe, and Slidell.
Worth the drive.
-
Art Galleries & Boutiques
Downtown Covington
Check out the boutiques and galleries of Columbia Street or the antique shops on Lee Lane, both in historic Downtown Covington. Keep an eye out for the “oxlot” parking lots which were originally designed for... oxen.
-
Breweries
Abita, Covington, and Mandeville
Local breweries abound along the St. Tammany Trace in Abita, Covington, and Mandeville. Abita Brewery, Covington Beer Garden, Chafunkta Brewing Co., and Barley Oak are all accessible by bike or a short drive from the hotel. Check websites for tastings and tour information.
-
Kayaking and Paddleboarding
Downtown Covington, Lakefront Mandeville
Perhaps the best way to access the unique natural world of Southern Louisiana. Paddle the cypress bayous between Mandeville and Lacombe, enjoy a spectacular sunset over the expanse of Lake Pontchartrain, or navigate the Bogue Falaya or Tchefuncte River. Bayou Adventure in Lacombe is our recommended outfitter.
-
Wild Bush Farm & Vineyard
Bush, LA
This charming vineyard & tasting room is an easy 15 minutes from the hotel via a scenic country highway. Also home of the fabulous Jazz’N the Vines concert series. Check their website for the season schedule.
